Report - Parliament House (Sunday 6 September 1998)

About 20 members enjoyed a perfect spring morning in the gardens at Parliament House. Many of the grevilleas were in flower and being used by large numbers of White-naped Honeyeaters, as well as by Red Wattlebirds, Eastern Spinebills and a few Yellow-faced Honeyeaters. We had good views of both Spotted and Striated Pardalotes, Weebill, Silvereyes and Superb Fairywrens. There were Gang-gangs, Crimson Rosellas and Galahs in the large trees nearby, and a couple of White-browed Scrubwrens in some dense vegetation. In all, 22 species were seen in the Parliament House grounds.

A short walk down to the lake through a patch of woodland near the Yacht Club added four species to the list, including a White-plumed Honeyeater and two Olive-backed Orioles calling.
