A really bright morning welcomed us to this rewarding birdwatching area. We were led, by Anthony Overs, in a most expert manner, viewing a total of 45 species of birds. The highlight was the sight of four Tawny Frogmouths, two adults and two young, beautifully huddled together. The discovery of the location of these birds is a story of its own, better perhaps in the telling than the writing. Shortly after we arrived, we spotted Geoffrey Dabb wielding a monstrous lens and determined to take the definitive photograph of nesting Olive-backed Orioles; the birds obliged us with an excellent view. Geoffrey pointed out a Varied Sittella on its nest to us (11 members in all) before getting on with his photography. The most remarkable sighting was perhaps the Leaden Flycatcher heard by Anthony from at least 300 m away; this proved to be a female on the nest with an attentive male hovering around. We witnessed the change of shift between these two birds. A first class outing enjoyed to the full by all.
