Every year, for hundreds of years, thousands of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters and White-naped Honeyeaters have made their way from the cooling Brindabellas in the autumn, to head off to a warmer climate. Canberra is where a large number of these migrating birds can be seen. Few people know more about the migration than Bruce Lindenmayer (6288 5957), who will lead the observation at Point Hut Crossing. Meet Bruce at the Point Hut Crossing, with binoculars, at about 8.30 am. The area is quite exposed, so please bring drink, hat and sunblock. Unlike most birding forays, little walking is required because the birds will come to you, so a chair may be useful. There is the option of walking along the river bank if so inclined.
