It was a chilly winter morning as a keen group of COG members set out. An Eastern Yellow Robin was clearly seen hopping around on a low shrub. A female Rose Robin was also spotted, an infrequent sighting in the gardens. Banksias were in flower, attracting many Eastern Spinebills. Other honeyeaters seen included the Yellow-faced, New Holland, and White-naped. There was a flock of King Parrots, and a Laughing Kookaburra was also seen. Crimson Rosellas nibbled on the fronds of tree ferns while we stood right beside them. Superb Fairy-wrens hopped along the ground and a Mistletoe bird was heard. In the bush just above the rainforest gully we spotted a male Tawny Frogmouth and then nearby we saw the female, very well camouflaged of course. They had been seen in the gully during the previous week. In all, 30 species were observed-a very pleasant morning's birdwatching.
