Detail - Atlassing Minibus Trip to Nanima area (Sun 21 May - 2000)

Note: this trip had to be cancelled due to the leader's illness, and while we are intending to re-schedule it, finding a free Sunday in Mark Clayton's field work schedule is proving difficult, it may not be possible until Autumn 2001. Those who previously paid will get first option for a seat when it's re-scheduled; otherwise the credit can be transferred to another minibus trip or a refund made - see Jenny Bounds at meetings.

This will be a day trip which Mark Clayton will lead, to a private property with good bird habitat and a range of local woodland species, in the central/northern part of COGs area of interest. We will be spending some time walking and undertaking Atlas searches on the property. Mark says there are some remnant stands of casuarina on the hills where Glossy Black Cockatoos have been reported in the past! We will also cover country roads in grids not yet covered for the Atlas, as well as Atlas a regular site in the Nanima Travelling Stock Reserve. This should be a very relaxing day with little travelling, and a good opportunity to learn about Atlassing.

We will be able to take 12 people in the minibus and if the bus fills, up to four others in cars. Bus cost $22 including morning tea and mud cake. Bookings to Jenny Bounds, ph 6288 7802 (answering machine available). Bring lunch and drinks for the day. Meet outside the COG Office, Griffin Centre, Civic for a 7am departure, expected return by 4.30pm. Note: plenty of bus seats available.
