COG has been assisting Greening Australia with bird surveys of re-vegetated sites in our region for the last 18 months. Some of the results in terms of the numbers and species of birds inhabiting re-vegetation have been very encouraging. Now you too have an opportunity to visit these sites.
Greening Australia is conducting a series of morning walks for landholders, landcare groups, birdwatchers and the interested public to demonstrate the birdlife that can be attracted back into the landscape by appropriate re-vegetation. The program is still being finalised but the walks will take place from 7-9am on weekdays in the last 2 weeks of November, on properties in the following districts: Canberra (2 mornings), Boorowa, Burrinjuck, Gundaroo, Gunning and Murrumbateman. Final details will be posted on the Canberra Birds emailing list as soon as they are known. Alternatively, phone Nicki Taws (6251 1879, ntaws@austarmetro.com.au) or Sue Streatfield at Greening Australia (6253 3035, sstreatfield@act.greeningaustralia.org.au) for details.
