Detail (first tour):
The main details of the tour are shown below. The dates are provisional and may change slightly depending on airline schedules (which are not yet available for 2001).
- 12-29 August (leave Australia on 11 August)
- estimated cost around $A3100 fully accommodated (airfare is additional)
- the tour commences with pick up in J'burg and ends in Cape Town (istay a few extra days in lovely Cape Town at your own expense to see the sights, or you can fly directly back to J'burg and home)
- an optional pre-tour extension of 5 nights in Kruger National Park, one of the great places for birds and game (7-12 August, leaving Australia on the 6th), which will probably include a private game reserve adjacent to Kruger to give a good opportunity to see leopard. The cost of the extension will be about $600-$700, plus an additional one-way airfare from J'burg to Kruger NP (estimated extra cost $140). Pelican Safaris will pick up in Kruger to save a full day's travel and overnight accommodation, which would cost around the same as the airfare.
