Detail - Kelly's Swamp (Sun 10 February 2002)

With the activity that has occurred there recently, it is very timely for COG to have an outing to this popular local wetland. With the inland very dry at the moment many bird species which usually only visit the Kelly's swamp/Jerrabomberra wetlands area occasionally, have been observed here. These include: Little Bittern, Buff-banded Rail, Black-tailed Native Hen, Glossy Ibis, Red-necked Avocet and Freckled Duck. While not all of these can be guaranteed, sightings of individual species have continued over some time.

Meet Philip Veerman (6231 4041) in the car park off Dairy Road (western side) at 8.30 am. Depending on the numbers, participants may be broken up in groups of around 10 which are more manageable and allow each to fit comfortably in the hides.
