Hi!
As you would expect the Sunday 19th walk at Jerrabomberra was quite small. Well to tell the truth, it was very small. OK it was tiny. In fact it was increased by 25 percent when Malcolm Fyfe joined us for a period when his Painted Snipe expedition was cancelled. With Malcolm, Suzanne, Martin and myself we had a brief look at the almost dried -out Kelly's Swamp where Malcolm left for greener pastures. The intrepid three soldiered on to-wards the sewage ponds to look for the smaller Crakes which had eluded us at Kelly's, although people had been tripping over them just days before. While we were at the ponds we could hear this squealing call in the distance which had us puzzled for a time before we realised it was a Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo, well I mean you just don't get Y-t B-C flying over the sewage ponds all the time. In spite of the fact that we didn't see a lot of the birds that been regularly seen at the wetlands ,we did manage to see 53 species which isn't bad in anyone's book.
Cheers
Bob Rusk
